Mr. Tarun Arora – Director – Finance and OperationsMr. Tarun Arora is a Director of IG International and a second-generation member of the family that founded the company over 50 years ago. IG has today grown to become one of the largest importers of fresh fruit in India, having its operation across fruit farming, imports & export, temperature-controlled logistics and supply chain management, shipping, and the distribution of fresh imported fruits all over India.Tarun is the driving force behind the IG family’s foray into several high-growth and sunrise sectors of Agri tech services like GROWING FRUITS with CEA (Controlled Environment Agriculture,) PLANT GENETICS & BIOSCIENCE, PLANT TISSUE CULTURE, and has multiple joint ventures with top fruit growers and top Agri-tech businesses and start-ups in the world. IG Blueberries, a JV with Mountain Blue Australia, to produce club variety blueberries in India is a very successful Agri start-up, with promises to become one of the largest blueberry producers in Asia, in near future. Other JVs with leading brands are under execution to grow premium fruits in India, infusing CEA Technology and agroforestry for efficient utilization of resources to withstand the effect of climate change and derive higher output with excellent quality of the produce.Tarun manages his family’s investment program; IG Holding and is responsible for many of joint ventures and investments.Tarun is a forward-looking technocrat making a conscious effort toward meeting the demand for food security arising out of the adverse effect of climate change by harnessing climate-smart solutions anchored in science, technology, and innovation (STI).Under his stewardship— IG undertook an elaborate ESG assessment, appointing PwC (PriceWaterhouseCoopers) to assist the company in efficient incorporation of the programme.Having seen the journey of IG over the last several decades, Tarun understands the unique challenges of building a successful Fresh Produce business in India.Besides contributing capital, he has to his advantage unique business networks and industry relationships that were established over the years.His portfolio businesses also benefit from the reputation and brand equity of the family name, thus making it smoother for the businesses to forge new relationships with vendors and attract a competent workforce, besides encouraging investee businesses to collaborate and set up a mutually reinforcing ecosystem by sharing resources and best practices.
