ABOUT TAREK MADY
I am a passionate educator and experienced higher education leader who thrives on inspiring students and colleagues to reach their full potential. Since 2019, I have had the honor of serving first as Interim Dean and then, from 2022, as Dean of the McDougall Faculty of Business at UPEI. Together with an incredible team, I have worked to cultivate a dynamic, globally connected learning environment. My focus has always been on driving innovation, building strong academic programs, and supporting the success of both students and faculty. In the classroom, I am driven by a love for marketing and a commitment to making complex concepts accessible, engaging, and relevant. I aim to spark curiosity and creativity, encouraging students to see marketing not just as a discipline, but as a tool for driving meaningful change in the world. I take pride in mentoring future leaders, helping them develop the skills and confidence to excel in a competitive global marketplace. My career path has been rich with international experience. Before joining UPEI, I held academic and administrative roles at leading institutions including the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, the American University of Dubai, and PwC’s Middle East Academy. I have also worked at Alexandria University and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, as well as Old Dominion University in the United States. These opportunities have shaped my global perspective, which I weave into my teaching, research, and leadership approach. On the research front, I am fascinated by international marketing strategy, emerging markets, and the evolving global consumer culture. My work has been published in several respected academic journals such as The Journal of Services Marketing, International Journal of Emerging Markets, and Journal of Consumer Behaviour. Currently, I serve as Senior Associate Editor for The Journal of Global Marketing, which allows me to contribute to shaping the field while learning from incredible scholars around the world. I am proud to have received several recognitions along the way, including teaching awards, research honors, and acknowledgments from colleagues and students. What truly excites me, however, is seeing others succeed. Whether it is a student landing their dream job, a faculty member achieving a major research breakthrough, or our school securing a new partnership, these moments remind me why I love what I do. I am always looking ahead, eager to take on new challenges and continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in business education.
