About Tarek Hachad
I\'m Tarek Hachad, a master\'s student in Bioinformatics and ex-bachelor\'s student in Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech. I have a strong background in computational biology, data science and analytics, machine learning, and database management. My work bridges data science and biotech, with hands-on experience in genomic data analysis, machine learning for medical imaging, and data-driven applications for biological and healthcare applications. Some of my past projects include developing a 3D convolutional neural network for Alzheimer’s stage classification using MRI and PET scans, optimizing model architectures and data augmentation techniques. I have also participated in building a machine learning model for cardio-safe drug design, predicting ligand interactions to assess drug-induced toxicity. My work at MAScIR focused on optimizing a low-cost tuberculosis diagnostic kit, improving its accuracy and efficiency for resource-limited settings. Additionally, I have designed a backend database system for airline ticketing application, developing a relational database and optimizing SQL queries for reservations, payments, and authentication, which reinforced my skills in database architecture and query optimization. Currently, as a Co-op in Advanced Applications AI at Boehringer Ingelheim, I focus on leveraging AI and data-driven solutions to real-world challenges. I have worked on a YOLOv8-based object detection system and a custom OCR pipeline to automate vaccine packaging QA. I am looking forward to thriving on projects that integrate computational techniques with and for life sciences to drive meaningful impact.
