ABOUT TARA MACTIGUE
Born and raised outside of Washington, DC, I have recently relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida. I am a freelance ASL interpreter with a strong passion for communication accessibility and serving as an ally to the Deaf community. I possess over eight years of extensive hands-on volunteer experience affiliated with Life Connection Mission in Montrouis, Haiti. In 2020 I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Deaf Studies from Towson University. Thereafter, I received my Interpreter Training Certificate from the Community College of Baltimore County’s two-year ITP. My experiences extend from working with adults in hospitality, volunteering for impoverished families locally and internationally, direct care for Deaf and/or disabled elderly, to Interpreting in the K12 setting, showcasing my ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse age groups. To further enhance my professional qualifications, I have successfully completed and passed both the ASLPI from Gallaudet University and EIPA from the Boys Town National Research Hospital. I am a student member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and an active participant in Purple Communications SMART program. I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of effective communication, and I am eager to continue my work in facilitating inclusive and meaningful interactions for individuals from all walks of life.
