About Tara Ori
I am a child welfare and juvenile justice leader with over 21 years of experience working at the intersection of child protection, law, and public systems. As an Assistant State’s Attorney in Lake County, Illinois, I have spent much of my career handling cases involving child abuse, neglect, dependency, and juvenile justice—working closely with Child Protection Services investigators, supervisors, and multidisciplinary partners to support child safety and appropriate services for families. My work has required strong legal judgment and a deep understanding of child welfare systems, investigative processes, statutory mandates, safety planning, and the operational realities faced by frontline child protection professionals. I regularly collaborate with DCFS, law enforcement, service providers, schools, and the courts in complex, high-risk matters involving vulnerable children. In addition to litigation experience, I bring significant mentoring experience. I have supported attorneys and professional staff through complex casework, contributed to policy discussions, and provided guidance in emotionally demanding environments requiring clarity, professionalism, and sound decision-making.I am interested in leadership and administrative roles focused on child protection systems, staff support, policy development, and cross-agency collaboration—where legal expertise and systems-level thinking can improve outcomes for children and families.Core strengths include:• Child Welfare & Juvenile Justice• Child Protection & Dependency Proceedings• Policy Development & Systems Collaboration• Professional Staff Mentorship• Cross-Agency Coordination• Trauma-Informed, Ethical Leadership
