About Tara Good

Tara Good works closely with WineAmeria’s Government Affairs team representing the American wine industry on Capitol Hill. In addition to legislative work, she manages operations for WineAmerica, communicating with and growing the organization’s diverse membership. She has been quoted in articles and spoken at industry conferences across the country.Tara entered government affairs as an assistant at the Distilled Spirits Council in Washington, D.C. A two-time recipient of the U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship, she studied Arabic in Jordan and Oman. She previously managed Middle Eastern and North African cultural programming for the Levantine Cultural Center in Los Angeles.A native of Sonoma County, California, Tara received her B.A. from Fordham University in International/Inter-cultural Studies and Theater. Following graduation, she worked several years in New York City theater, including as an assistant on the Broadway show, Golda’s Balcony. She received her M.A. from New York University in Performance Studies where she studied the intersection of religion and government.

Lobbied to preserve ASCAP and BMI’s consent decrees with the Department of Justice. Negotiated with ASCAP to create a new winery license resulting in direct savings for wineries. Serves as the leading expert on music licensing and the wine industry, resulting in numerous speaking engagements and media interviews. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS:Serves as primary WineAmerica contact on issues of music licensing for Congressional members, coalition partners, media, and others throughout the wine industry,Represents WineAmerica in coalitions with groups including: iHeartradio, Pandora, Spotify, Consumer Technology Association, National Restaurant Association, American Beverage Licensees, and the National Hotel and Lodging Association.Lobbies Congress on all issues related to the wine industry, including Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, trade and tariffs, country of origin labeling, alcohol licensing and regulatory issues, and TTB Funding.Regularly presents at industry conferences on federal legislative and regulatory issues.Jointly leads standing government relations calls with representatives from Constellation Brands, Treasury Wine Estates, Chateau Ste. Michelle, among others. Coordinates grassroots efforts for the State and Regional Association Advisory Council, comprising over 40 associations.Plans and executes two major conferences for WineAmerica members, including a lobby day and reception with members of Congress on Capitol Hill.
