ABOUT TARA A. CLEARY
Dr. Tara A. Cleary has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. She received her Masters of Arts as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from New York University. Dr. Cleary has held clinical and leadership positions in the long term and acute care settings, she is board certified in Advanced Practice Geriatric Nursing, Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing and is an End of Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) trainer. She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, as a Nurse Leader. Dr. Cleary was appointed to the Board of Advisors for the Hartford Institute Foundation of Geriatric Nursing at New York University. She has presented nationally on topics ranging from geriatric best practices, symptom management for older adults, and integrating competencies of older adults into cancer care. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Geriatric Advanced Practice Nursing from New York University where she was one of two Brookdale Foundation Full Scholarship recipient\'s. The focus of her doctoral work was to develop and evaluate education related to Geriatric Palliative Care specific for hospital based Medical Surgical Nurses. Currently, Dr. Cleary is working with interdisciplinary clinical teams, to assist clinically and socially fragile older adults and their caregivers to remain healthy and supported at home.
