ABOUT TANYA HESLIP

I am Curriculum Manager for Hair and Beauty within Belfast Business School at Belfast Metropolitan College, my role is to manage curriculum delivery and to ensure our commercial Hair, Beauty, Spa and Media Makeup salons - Urban Escape, run commercially to meet the learning and assessment needs of all our learners. We deliver Qualifications and training under Further and Higher Education and Apprenticeship Ni and Traineeship programs. We offer provision across all levels from occupational studies to NVQ, VRQ and L5 qualifications within our FE, HE and Skills delivery. I have extensive experience across the industry,as a salon owner, stylist / therapist and within a teaching capacity as lecturer, assessor & IQA. I am currently working on the development of what will be the new Traineeship curriculum with the aim to transform vocational training and Apprenticeships in Northern Ireland as a lead on Sectoral Partnership for Hair,Barbering and Beauty Therapy. I am also working as curriculum lead with the college implementation project of ebs. As a college we work in partnership with many Premier Salons and Businesses across Northern Ireland to deliver training to their salon staff and Apprentices and sharing knowledge and experience to my teams and students. I have experience within the Worldskills arena as Worldskills Mentor for Belfast Metropolitan College and Northern Ireland Find a Future Skills Champion.and local Hero. I played a leading role in the organisation of Northern Ireland\'s first hosting event for UK Squad selection in 2014 and recently National Finals 2022 and continue to manage Annual skills competitions and development across the sector. A professional, diligent and personable manager of projects, programmes and events, with exceptional communication and organisational skills and experience of working with a notably diverse range of industries and stakeholders. I am able to thrive in a busy, pressurised environment whilst still maintaining a high level of attention to detail and level-headedness.
