Evaluating and appraising public-funded projects and schemes that cost ₹500 crore or more. Core responsibilities include:1. Techno-Economic Appraisal: Conducting detailed assessments of major public sector projects and schemes to ensure their economic feasibility and adherence to government policies.2. Recommendations: Providing recommendations for projects to be considered by the Public Investment Board (PIB) and schemes to be considered by the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC).3. Research: Undertaking research to enhance appraisal methodologies and assisting central ministries and states in developing project proposals and improving public expenditure quality; producing discussion papers on varied cross-departmental themes.4. Collaborating with various departments, state governments, and statutory bodies to improve public finance management and policy analysis.5. Member of working group to develop an investment friendly charter for states, governance reforms.6. Drafting strategic sectoral roadmaps for Indian states.6. Capacity building of state government officials on governance and evidence-based policy making.
