ABOUT TANTRA GRILLO
Radio personality, rapper, and emcee ‘Tantra\' is originally from Tustin, California. She decided to jump to Hilo for adventure and the stars. Intending to become an astronomer she ended up with her BA in Communications from UH Hilo in 06’. She entered the radio business in 2003 with KWXX in Hilo after program director G Cuz heard her voice. She went on to become DaBeat and Native FM’s afternoon voice and jumped to Maui to host the afternoon drive on roots reggae station Q103 where she earned the #1 spot in ratings for her afternoon drive show in 2012. She became Honolulu’s female voice for Hip Hop in 2015 as the powerfully outspoken half of \'The Power Morning Show\' on Power 104.3 taking their dipped ratings from #6 to #2 in 2 years. As a rapper she released her freshman hip hop album ‘Love’s Heretic’ which won her a Na Hoku Hanohano Award in May of 2017 for Hip Hop Album of the Year. She became the first woman to take home this award in the category. She is now taking a break from the airwaves and focusing on music, her emcee business, spending time traveling and performing all over Hawaii. for the music. Her 2017 Na Hoku Hanohano Award winning album, Loves Heretic, is available on iTunes and CD Baby.
