About Tanner Smith

As a double major in Political Science and Psychology at Kent State University, I have always been interested in social management, communication, public policy, and law. I have built a strong starting path in writing, research, and leadership through experiences in Journalism, student organizations, fundraising, and community care/outreach. Whether I am reporting breaking stories for The Kentstater, producing digital content, or managing social media and fundraising coordination for student organizations, I really strive to communicate creatively and with purpose. My roles have ranged from founding an international relations club to serving as Vice President of Fundraising for a board game club, each experience helping me build real-world skills in strategy, leadership, and collaboration. In addition to campus involvement, I have worked as a Home Care Professional providing dementia support with empathy and psychological techniques, and as a student leader in afterschool programming, mentoring and tutoring younger students in academic and social growth. Now, I\'m seeking opportunities that blend or include policy, advocacy, media, and psychology - where an understanding of community needs and strategic thinking can make an impact.
