About Tanya McGee

I am a passionate urban planner and grants manager with over 6 years of experience in public and private sectors. My work includes a strong focus on data-driven solutions and in-depth research. I thrive on analyzing complex urban systems to inform sustainable and equitable development. With a knack for translating data into actionable insights, I aim to create smarter, more livable cities for everyone. My dissertation, titled,\"Segregated Neighborhoods as a Socio-spatial Factor to Violence and Trauma,\" is a qualitative study focusing on the Social Determinants of Health, to understand how place contributes to trauma. Data was collected via interviews of Black mothers who have lost at least one child to violence. To understand the services available, or the lack thereof, that contribute to the mother\'s ability or inability to be resilient, the study utilized qualitative data from grassroots organizations that fill service gaps in their communities. With extensive experience in researching grant funding opportunities both at the state and federal levels, I have successfully secured funding for various projects and ensured compliance with reporting requirements throughout their lifecycle.
