About Tanmaya Kumar

I\'m Head of Technology at Overstory Health, a McLean Hospital-validated behavioral health platform, where I joined as the founding tech lead and built the engineering organization, platform, and compliance posture from scratch. My work sits at the intersection of healthcare delivery, regulated infrastructure, and engineering leadership. I\'ve spent the last decade building and scaling teams in healthcare technology — from FDA-regulated clinical platforms at Calibrate to operational and infrastructure leadership across athenahealth and Wayfair. The throughline is the same: building technology that actually works in care environments, not just impressive demos. In parallel, I founded the bh-healthcare open source organization, publishing audit and clinical safety infrastructure under Apache 2.0. Several packages are in production use, with active adopters across multiple countries. The work is grounded in the same belief: privacy, auditability, and clinical safety should be primitives in healthcare engineering, not luxury features. I\'m also the author of Leading Divergence: A Field Guide to Neurodivergent Leadership (Buggy OS Press, May 2026). It\'s a book about what actually happens when ADHD, intensity, and hyperfocus meet team leadership — not the superpower narrative, the real one. A second book on the mental health cost of long-term immigration uncertainty is in early development for 2027. Technical depth in Python, AWS, React, healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, SOC 2), and ML. Conversational in pragmatism, allergic to corporate buzzwords.
