This was my first-ever role in IT Audits — where I was graciously introduced to the thrilling world of ticking checkboxes and testing controls that “should” already be working.I had the unique privilege of working with several large listed clients in India, and some notable French entities too — because nothing screams excitement like cross-border ITGCs.I gained hands-on experience (deep dives into endless evidence folders) in IT Control testing, including ITGC, ITAC, and IPE — the holy trinity of audit buzzwords.What started as innocent teamwork quickly turned into “Hey, can you just handle this major client solo?” and somehow, I did.I also got to do the ever-glamorous audit trail reviews and backup testing — ensuring compliance with the Companies Act, one painstakingly detailed log file at a time. Along the way, I picked up actual skills (who would’ve thought?) — becoming fluent in SAP and payroll systems, developing a mild addiction to database architecture, and figuring out how to secure them (because hackers never sleep, and neither do we).Just to keep things interesting, I independently led a cybersecurity audit that actually improved a client’s security posture. I even represented the Mumbai team in a SOC engagement, decoding alerts, sipping coffee like a seasoned threat hunter, and pretending not to panic when the dashboards went silent for too long.
