About Tamy Quigley
Senior Transportation Planner | Complete Streets and Active Transportation ManagerI lead, manage, and guide a strong team of planners who all work to plan, develop, and implement state and federal programs and projects through regulations and guidelines through various laws and initiatives related to complete streets and active transportation. These efforts provide communities with the connection, guidance, assistance, and information to plan, design, build and maintain a more effective, sustainable, and livable transportation experience. This is achieved though extensive public engagement and outreach, internal and external coordination, and various planning and design strategies. Working to align planning, development and design strategies to develop cutting-edge solutions for communities; solutions that not only serve the immediate need, but take a more organic and holistic view of the needs of the residence, their communities, now, and in the years to come. As the single focal point within Caltrans District 2, I lead and develop a cross-functional team that analyzes the needs of all its stakeholders. I work with local agencies and internal capital delivery teams from inception through project implementation. The work I do ensures that projects best serve local needs and build strong partnerships within the organization, that will foster internal and external relationships, all while working within state and federal laws and regulations. These include the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32),the Complete Streets Act of 2008 (AB 1358), the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 (SB 375), and the Transit Oriented Development Act of 2013 (SB 743), as well as the Caltrans Complete Streets Directive (DD64) derived from Governor\'s executive orders. The partnerships I create work to provide a true investment in the community, strengthen partnerships, and build trust, while optimizing the project into a multimodal infrastructure offering long term sustainable ways, for those who desire to walk, bike, or roll as their mode of transportation. One that is a more thoughtful, innovative and equitable solution to a problem that California is uniquely positioned to lead. As California’s infrastructure continues to deteriorate and the need for a sustainable system for all users is in high demand, there is no better time to invest in planning for a designated space for the non-motorized class it is more important that ever to consider the needs of all while planning and building for our transportation future.
