ABOUT TAMMY BROWN
TAMMY BROWN has been at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for almost 30 years. She has spent time in the Photonics Branch working on support subsystems for laser altimeters such as MOLA (Mars Observer Laser Altimeter) and GLAS (GeoScience Laser Altimeter System), and the Detectors Branch where she was the Shuttle Payload Manager for SOLSE (Shuttle Ozone Limb Sounding Experiment) that demonstrated the first hyperspectral measurement for Earth science, and is the heritage reference for the OMPS instrument (Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite) currently being built at Ball Aerospace. She continued to dabble on laser altimeters as the PDL for MLA (Mercury Laser Altimeter), which has just entered orbit around Mercury and begun taking historic images. She returned to Shuttle instrumentation with the LEIRC (Leading Edge Infrared Camera) proposal to perform in-flight examination of the Shuttle’s wings, and then she transitioned to the Instrument Systems Branch after she took the job as Team Lead for the IDL (Instrument Design Lab). She has been married to Gary Brown of the Electro-Mechanical Branch for over 15 years. She is the proud Mom of 2 crazy boys and enjoys photographing all their achievements.Specialties: remote sensing instrumentation for spaceflight
