ABOUT TAMMIE NELSON
I’m a health services researcher and science writer with extensive experience in public health practice and research. I use SAS to leverage clinical and administrative data from electronic health records, Medicaid, and a variety of other sources to investigate and improve the impact of social determinants of health (e.g, poverty, education, transportation) on access to and quality of care with a focus on HIV, mental health, substance use disorder, and vulnerable populations. My work includes development of large-scale multidisciplinary grants and IRB proposals and facilitating successful publication of manuscripts. I collaborate with community organizations and a stakeholder group to gather valuable information and to ensure that findings are disseminated and implemented in Central Indiana and beyond. I also serve as president of InStep, Inc. I carry responsibility for ensuring the organization stays on mission, maintains financial viability, and for strategic planning.
