The ChadTough Foundation is a 501c3 with the mission of raising research dollars and awareness for pediatric brain cancer with a focus on Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).My son, Chad, was diagnosed with DIPG on September 23, 2014 and given 9-12 months to live. He was diagnosed at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital - the hospital I helped raised funds to build - in the wing named after my father-in-law and his Papa, Lloyd Carr.News of his diagnosis spread quickly and the community reached out to help in droves. My husband, Jason, and I held on to the hope that Chad would defy the odds and beat DIPG. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t be our story. On November 23, 2015, Chad passed away after a 14-month battle with DIPG.We have since worked tirelessly to honor Chad’s legacy and find a treatment plan and a cure for DIPG. As a foundation, we know that focusing on the worst tumor there is - DIPG - will help all other pediatric brain cancers. ABOUT CHADTOUGHThe ChadTough Foundation® has not slowed down since its formation in December 2015, thanks in large part to the incredible support from our community, sponsors, and countless influencers I don’t want to try and name for fear of leaving anyone out. There are plenty of ways to get involved with the foundation. We hold two major events each year: The Champions for Change Gala each May and the RunTough for ChadTough event each September. We also have a steady stream of events put on by ChadTough supporters across the country. To learn more about the foundation, visit chadtough.org.
