ABOUT TAMILLA WOODARD
Tamilla Woodard is the Chair of the Acting Program at the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and also a resident director at Yale Rep. Previously she served as the Co-Artistic Director of Working Theatre in New York and before that, the BOLD associate artistic director at WP Theater where she also directed the world premiere of the Lucille Lortel nominated Where We Stand by Donnetta Lavinia Grays. She was the associate director of Hadestown on Broadway in its premier season and has been named one of 50 Women to Watch on Broadway by the Broadway Women’s Fund. She is also the recipient of an Off Broadway Alliance award for Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical at Atlantic Theater Company and the Josephine Abady Award from the League of Professional Theatre Women. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, where she also currently teaches, an alumnus of The Lincoln Center Directors Lab, a Usual Suspect at New York Theatre Workshop and artistic affiliate with New Georges. She is the co-founder of PopUp Theatrics, a partnership creating site specific and immersive theatrical events in collaborations with theatre artists working around the world. Zora Neale Hurston’s Spunk and The Kings Wife, a new musical by Jamie Floyd and Melisa Annis.
