Placental ImmunologistHow do maternal immune cells establish immune tolerance to foreign fetal and placental tissues and at the same time maintain immunity to viral and bacterial infections?My research focuses on how interactions between placental trophoblasts and maternal immune cells support development of a healthy placenta and pregnancy and in other cases can contribute to excessive inflammatory responses that can cause pregnancy complications including miscarriage, preterm delivery and/or preeclampsia.
