As an adjunct professor at Estrella Mountain Community College, I teach first-year composition (ENG 101) during the fall semester and ENG 102 in the spring as part of the Achieving a College Education (ACE) program. I work on site with a cohort of 22 high school students, guiding them through college-level writing, research, and critical thinking skills. Using Canvas as the primary course management system, I design and facilitate three-hour block classes that emphasize student engagement, the writing process, and practical academic literacy. I independently manage curriculum development, grading, and alignment to EMCC’s course competencies—helping students transition confidently into higher education while fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
