ABOUT TAMARA SPIEGL

At the Ocean Technology Campus Rostock I lead strategy development and coordinate the establishment of a national and international innovation network in marine research and ocean technology. Working with over 40 public and private sector partners, we drive innovation to protect the oceans and foster a sustainable blue economy. I successfully coordinated the strategy and application for the second phase of the Future Cluster Initiative, securing €15 million in funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This initiative strengthens collaboration between industry and research, advancing sustainable ocean technologies. As a certified scientific diver, I actively contribute to marine research projects. Beyond my professional role, I volunteer with Sea Shepherd Germany, advocating for ocean protection, which I believe is crucial for the survival of our planet. My background includes extensive experience in AR, VR, digital twins, and big data from my previous work as a consultant and team lead in software development. I hold an Advanced Master’s degree in Sustainable Blue Economy, with a thesis focused on the potential of digital twins for ocean management. I am dedicated to using my expertise to create solutions that ensure the long-term health of our oceans and planet.
