Tamal graduated from the National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) in 2009 and later read the LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland (2014-15). Tamal has worked at Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co.(2009-14), the Appellate Body Secretariat of the World Trade Organization (WTO)(2015-20), the United Kingdom Government (2020-22) and Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India (2022-23).He has significant experience and expertise in domestic and international dispute resolution. Tamal has counselled and represented private and sovereign clients in domestic proceedings, international arbitrations, investigations and state-to-state dispute settlement. He has advised and represented clients in commercial arbitrations under institutional rules as well as ad-hoc arbitrations and in court proceedings concerning grant of interim reliefs, setting aside of arbitral awards, enforcement of foreign arbitral awards, etc. Tamal has further advised and assisted the Appellate Judges at the WTO in Geneva on the resolution of legal claims in complex international disputes. As a Senior Lawyer with the UK Government in London, he acted as adviser to Ministers and senior policy officials and represented the UK in negotiations and international disputes. Tamal is skilled in legal research & drafting, oral advocacy, policy advisory, risk assessment & mitigation, strategic planning and decision making. He also possesses a strong knowledge of international organizations and ways of working in a Government.
