Conducting research under a CNM User Proposal focused on the deposition and characterization of piezoelectric thin films for ultrasonic sensing applications. This work is funded by a DOE grant awarded to the NDE lab at University of Illinois Chicago (UIC).Current key responsibilities include:1. Utilizing AJA sputtering system for thin-film deposition2. Performing comprehensive material characterization using: Bruker XRD D8 (crystallographic analysis) Filmetrics and Ellipsometry (film thickness and optical properties) Resistivity meter (electrical property assessment)The ultimate goal is to scale up high-performance ultrasonic sensors for integration into the Mechanisms Engineering Test Loop Facility (METL) facility at Argonne National Laboratory, advancing real-time monitoring in extreme environments.
