About Takehiro Nakamura
I have been very fortunate to have given many opportunities in the last nine years where I led Sustainable Design Team as well as a commercial interiors team of five architects and designers on projects ranging from square feet to square feet. I oversaw all phases of projects, from inception, design, construction and occupancy. One such project was a 228 key hotel brand conversion and major renovation project. I have certified six projects as LEED Project Administrator in both LEED for New Construction and Commercial Interiors in certification levels ranging from Platinum to Silver, and administered an additional six projects in certification phase at the time of my recent departure.As a strong advocate for sustainability, I believe in community involvement in advancing sustainability further. I am an active member of the US Green Building Council National Capital Region Chapter, where I have served on the member-elected Board of Directors for the past three years. I also serve on the Advisory Board for the George Washington University’s Interior Design program. My other community involvement projects include co-organizing A Heart for Haiti fundraiser following the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, presenting at Global Pecha Kucha Night for Japan and organizing an event, Brave New Voices Speaks Green in Washington, DC, for Youth Speaks, a Bay Area based spoken word arts organization with features on the HBO and Sundance Channels.
