Apply engineering knowledge to engineering scientific situations and participate in developing new approaches to difficult problems- Analyze and determine the adequacy of data and tests submitted by tobacco manufacturers regarding the safety and public health impact of regulated products- Determine whether additional data or other information is necessary within the context of applicable laws policies, regulations, and guidelines- Recommend new and revised guidelines for regulated tobacco products when appropriate by reviewing a wide range of tobacco products to determine the adequacy of the results from engineering disciplines and/or other studies concerned with exposure and health determinations of product reports/applications- Maintain abreast of new findings through review of engineering literature, participation in professional meetings and undertaking independent research- Responsible for the sustained progress of the engineer projects in accordance with scheduled baseline as well as resources- Provide verbal and written conclusions to other Federal agencies, industry, universities, and state, local, and foreign governments- Compile data used to prepare presentations that support CTP’s recommendations on engineering scientific issues and proposes areas of study for in-house and contract research projects.
