About Tabitha Sookdeo

I am the Executive Director of Connecticut Students for a Dream, an organization that prioritizes undocumented students and their families. My management expertise lie in team building, community outreach and advocacy, fund development, and communications. I am also pursuing a dual degree in law and environmental management at Vermont Law & Graduate School and Yale School of the Environment, with a focus on environmental justice and climate-induced migration. I aim to use the power of the law and science to address root causes and consequences of displacement and inequality in over-burdened communities around the world. My passion for advocating for vulnerable persons and ensuring the protection of human rights stems from my own lived experience as an immigrant from Guyana who grew up on the island of Sint Maarten.

   Connecticut Students for a Dream (C4D) is the only youth-led, statewide organization in Connecticut that fights for the rights of undocumented youth and their families. C4D does this by organizing, empowering, and advocating with undocumented young people and those impacted by the immigration systems to win real change for our communities. For over 14 years, C4D has been at the forefront of youth organizing, education equity, and immigrant rights. Throughout the year, we provide programming in New Haven, Danbury and New Britain/Hartford, covering several high schools and colleges.
