About Tabitha Irvin

I am a junior at American University pursuing a B.S. in Finance with strong interests in asset management, portfolio strategy, and trading. I began my involvement in the Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) as a Junior Analyst, where I applied financial analysis, valuation, and market research to real-world investments. I am excited to announce that I was selected to fund’s leadership team as a Portfolio Manager for the Spring, 2026 semester. My professional experience includes: Corporate Finance & Accounting Intern at Washington Gas on the General Ledger Team (Summer, 2025) and Finance Intern at Seventy2 Capital Wealth Management (Summer, 2024). Outside of finance, I am passionate about teaching and writing. I’ve taught English to adult immigrants at the Washington English Center, supported high-risk elementary students as an Ignite Fellow for Teach for America, and contributed to student publications through design, writing, and editing.I bring a blend of analytical finance expertise, teaching ability, and communication skills to every opportunity, with a focus on problem-solving, collaboration, and continuous learning.

   Junior Analysts in SMIF learn equity valuation and portfolio management techniques and tools to demonstrate practical knowledge in research, investing, risk, and portfolio management. I will also conduct original research in technical, valuation, fundamental and factor analysis. SMIF currently oversees about in assets from a variety of positions, including analysts, fund managers, and portfolio managers. The program mimics the structure of an asset management team and provides students with real-time, experiential learning opportunities in the field of asset management and securities analysis.
