The externship program employs a Practitioner-Scholar model grounded in evidence-based practices from a number of different theoretical models, including cognitive and behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, object relations theory and systems theory. The program provides exposure to a broad range of clinical experiences, roles, and responsibilities, and encourages professional development through clinical experience, supervision, mentoring, and didactic training.Provides group therapy, individual therapy, consultation and psychological assessments.Attends daily interdisciplinary team meetings on the unit.Aids/completes treatment plans. Conducts psychological testing using various assessment instruments, including but not limited to, measures of cognitive functioning (e.g, WAIS-IV, WISC-V, WASI-II,), screening measures of cognitive functioning (e.g, MoCA, MMSE-2), measures of personality and psychopathology (e.g, PAI, PAI-A,), screening measures for targeted symptom areas (TSI-2, TSCC, BDI, CDI) as well as training with projective assessments (e.g, Both the RPAS & Exner Comprehensive Systems for the Rorschach, TAT, & Figure Drawings). Behavioral inventories coordinating observations of patient and lateral sources are also included (CBCL, Vineland-3, Conners, & CARS-2).
