ABOUT ARTEM POPOV
I’m a hands-on product and engineering leader with over a decade of experience building high-load, data-driven web platforms end-to-end — from raw, noisy, and incomplete data to valuable, practical products. My core expertise lies in creating systems where software engineering, data science, and product thinking intersect — especially in domains like Fraud Prevention, Device Intelligence, and Computational Advertising.I’ve led cross-functional engineering teams (Backend/ML/Analytics), written production-grade ML-based systems, shipped high-load APIs, and built internal analytics platforms — always with a strong focus on business value and product impact.Currently, I’m working at Sumsub, helping to build a next-generation Fraud Prevention platform at the intersection of product and engineering. My role spans defining product vision and making sure the core engineering systems stop fraud in real time.Previously, I led the engineering team behind the core identification product at Fingerprint.com, the market leader in browser identification. My team combined cutting-edge browser fingerprinting techniques with data science and analytics to build one of the most advanced SaaS products in its class. I was responsible for connecting research, engineering, and analytics to ensure accuracy and engineering efficiency, bringing the research insights to the end customers\' value. Before that, I spent 4 years at VK, where I built and scaled the machine learning team behind VK’s advertising platform. We developed core ML-based products such as auto-bidding strategies and fully automated promotion tools for SMBs — technologies that directly contributed to doubling the platform’s advertising revenue.I thrive in early- and growth-stage product environments, where the biggest value comes from being deeply involved: diving into data, writing code, debugging product-market fit, mentoring engineers, and shaping team culture. I adapt to what’s most valuable — whether that means scaling a team, refining product direction, or building robust analytics workflows from scratch.
