About Syokau Mutonga
I am a contemporary archaeologist passionate about people in all places across time. I am particularly interested in exploring how the past has endured in the present and how we can utilise intersectional approaches to reveal the hidden networks, systems and infrastructures that support or undermine collective life and sustainable social change. I currently excavate moments of exclusion in Nairobi\'s recent past and the sites of resistance they generated through place, language and story. At Open Restitution Africa, I support the research team in building Africa-wide case studies that document the necessary processes for making restitution possible.
