ABOUT SYLWESTER O.
I bridge the world of engineering with modern IT technologies in the field of digital transformation and science. From a design engineer, through CAD/PLM support team leader, Java developer, business analyst, to a leader of PLM implementation teams – my career path has been a continuous journey of connecting people, processes, technologies, and science. At Transition Technologies PSC, I built the PLM Business Consulting department from scratch, which I currently manage. My team, composed of CAD and PLM business analysts, supports the implementation of PTC’s CAD and PLM systems. Our work includes: Integration of PLM with CAx systems (primarily Creo Parametric, CATIA V5, NX, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, and Solid Edge), Development of project methodologies (including Top-down Design and MBD), Analysis of existing product development processes and their reflection in the PLM system, Knowledge transfer through workshops and training sessions. My department is responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive, tailored training programs in CAD and PLM. We create training materials and conduct professional courses. An exciting and crucial part of our work is the design and development of tools that automate design and engineering processes in CAx systems using APIs for Creo Parametric, CATIA V5, and SOLIDWORKS. Alongside my professional career, I am also active in the scientific domain. A PhD in computer-aided designing and numerous scientific publications (including on CAD, PLM, AR/VR, IoT, and the digital thread) reflect my commitment to advancing knowledge – and, importantly, to applying that knowledge in business practice. I’ve authored five peer-reviewed, popular science books published by renowned publishers. These works cover topics such as project management, product lifecycle management, industrial applications of innovative IT technologies, the maturity of Industry 4.0 implementation in manufacturing companies, and the digitalization of organizational and technical change management.
