ABOUT SYLVIA HESS
Hello, my name is Sylvia Hess! I was raised in Erie, Pennsylvania and I attend the University of Kentucky. I’m a fourth-year student pursuing dual degrees in Merchandising, Apparel & Textiles and Marketing, with a passion for fashion events, branding, and creative PR.As the Director of New Member Education for Pi Beta Phi, I led and mentored 120 women over a nine-week period, managing large-scale programming, planning chapter events, and stepping into a leadership role that strengthened my communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. What I loved the most was planning events for everyone to enjoy and benefit from! I now serve as the Director of Events for the Fashion and Merchandising Collective and will take on the role of Student Director of Events for the student-run fashion show this spring. I also continue my work with AFA, assisting with markets and gaining valuable industry exposure.My academic journey has been enriched by international study experiences in Italy and Austria, where I deepened my understanding of fashion and global marketing strategies. I’ve gained hands-on experience through roles in social media marketing, event planning, retail sales, and fashion show coordination.
