Research: Acoustics, Convected Acoustics, Flow NoiseProjects1. Quantifying ambient ocean noise source for underwater speakers’ coherence by modeling hydroacoustic generation from turbulent boundary layer using Lighthill-Williams-Curle analogy, later use hydrophones to validate model.2. Developed underwater acoustic deterrent systems to protect Mississippi River ecosystems by solving linear acoustic wave equations through finite element methods on HPC cluster, delivering operational system for US Army ERDC.3. Parallelized Dynamic Mode Decomposition eigenvalue computations using Numba JIT compilation and CUDA, reducing spectral analysis runtime from 8 hours to 12 minutes for large-scale hydroacoustic datasets.4. Minimized acoustic pressure fluctuations for consistent speaker sound by hybrid optimization architecture via deterministic (COBYLA, SLSQP) and stochastic (SHGO, Differential Evolution, GA) algorithms, reducing pressure fluctuations by 15%.5. Leveraged model reduction technique to enable predictive maintenance of US Army Corps hydraulic infrastructure through Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) with resonant mode analysis, providing real-time acoustic field data to the team.6. Validated computational acoustic models for love of science by proving mathematical equivalence between time-domain DMD and frequency-domain Helmholtz eigenanalysis, verified through COMSOL-MUMPS (Multifrontal solver) simulations.7. Developed computational framework for optimizing speaker placement in conference room geometries using ray-tracing and FEM COMSOL, achieving 72% correlation with measured reverberation times (RT60) and reducing acoustic hotspots by 28%.• Conference Paper: Hydroacoustic Analysis of Mississippi River Lock & Dam 19: Fish Deterrence, IMECE ASME, 2024, Oregon, WA.
