ABOUT SYDNEY HAMILTON
I am a Juris Doctor Candidate at Emory University School of Law (Class of 2027) with a steadfast foundation in the intersection of international law and human rights, while incorporating a strategic focus on the field of Business and Human Rights. Currently, I am engaging with these disciplines through a rigorous combination of clinical and fellowship work. As an Extern with The Carter Center’s Democracy Program, I analyze legal frameworks and policy regarding freedom of expression and democratic stability. Simultaneously, I serve as a Student Attorney in the International Humanitarian Law Clinic, partnering with the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) to address complex legal protections in conflict zones.Alongside these roles, I continue to serve as a Fellow with Emory Law\'s Center for International and Comparative Law (CICL), where I am spearheading the creation of a new digital publication for legal commentary and helping to organize the Center’s annual expert symposiums. On campus, I hold leadership positions as the President of both the Emory International Law Society and the Emory Law chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project.Prior to law school, I graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Human Rights with a focus in Public Policy, a B.A. in International Studies with a regional specialization in the Middle East and Africa, and a B.A. in Political Science, as well as minors in Arabic and Ethics. I am driven by a desire to apply this multidisciplinary background to legal challenges in global governance, operational compliance, and human rights.
