ABOUT SYDNEY HAMILTON
I currently work as Legal Counsel (Commercial) at the AESO. I provide support to our commercial, markets, and transmission teams by assisting with procurements and contract drafting and negotiation. I previously worked at McCarthy Tetrault (Calgary) in the Financial Services group where I was involved in providing legal advice and support to external clients and assisting with contract drafting and negotiation and due diligence in various industries, including project financings. I graduated from the University of Victoria Faculty of Law in April 2019 and from the University of Regina in 2016 where I completed a Bachelor of Science (with great distinction), majoring in biology. In summer 2018, I worked at McCarthy Tetrault (Calgary) and worked with the Business, Litigation, and Energy Groups. In 2017, I worked as a summer student at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice and gained experience researching and preparing legal memoranda. I take instruction well and am a fast learner. I am able to make quick decisions under stressful situations and I have strong communication skills with coworkers, employers, and customers.
