About Sydney Butz

Currently studying at Indiana University to receive a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish, I am an ambitious, driven, and hard-working student hoping to attend Optometry school following my undergraduate degree. I have always been described as empathetic, sensitive, and personable, and I have a passion for helping others improve their quality of life through their vision!I am currently working part-time at Northeast Wisconsin Vision as an Ophthalmic Technician, a job I truly love and am passionate about. Through patient work-ups, testing, and triaging, I am able to foster relationships with patients, explain their ocular conditions to them, and ease their nerves prior to seeing the doctors. I love being part of their patient journey in any way possible.I am honored to be the Feature Twirler with IU’s Marching Hundred, a Division 1 Athletic position which had not been filled for 28 years. I lead the 300-member band by fostering a collaborative and positive environment, encouraging hard work and focus during rehearsal, and getting to know each band member personally, to ensure that they feel safe and valued in the Hundred. I also serve on the executive board of the Pre-Optometry club, co-run the social media accounts for Greek Intervarsity, and am a member of the sorority with the highest average GPA at IU, Kappa Alpha Theta.
