When someone asks me to describe myself the word I would use is excitement. That’s what I feel and excitement is also what I love to give to people I meet and talk to. It’s taking that twinkle you see in someone’s eye and sharing it. I try to do this not only with the words I use but the actions I take. How do I keep the excitement going? It’s simple. I’m always trying something new by experiencing it firsthand and by becoming knowledgable about it. It started when I was 13 and got my first SLR I needed to know everything there was about photography so I commandeered the upstairs bathroom and turned it into a darkroom. When I was 15 after watching the 1984 Olympics I was so intrigued by the sport of bicycle racing that I trained hard, joined a team, and raced for three seasons. I watched a water ski show and even though I never water skied EVER I joined one of the best water ski shows that was 2nd at the U.S. national competition for water ski shows that year. I saw my first improv performance and within 2 years I was a paid cast memeber in a comedy troupe. The list goes on. Now I know what your thinking. “He just jumps from one thing to the next and moves on.” I can see how you could come to that conclusion but not quite. All of these skills have added up to help give me a unique perspective and a willingness to learn new things. When I joined the water ski show team, I didn’t know how to ski so I had to learn a skill that these extremely talented performers had been doing since they learned how to swim. I had to start at the bottom. I cleaned the equipment. Helped the pros. Listened. Watched. Trained. Did I become one of their performers? Not quite, but I was part of the show and worked hard. But I did learn a lot about how to put on the show and all of the logistics involved. Someone once said to me you can’t be bored unless you were boring. I live by that. It’s also why I love creating great experiences; You get to share excitement with others.
