About Swapnil Acharya

With a passion for engineering design and product development, I pursued a Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I gained hands-on experience in innovative design processes for combat rotorcraft and aerodynamics. I worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Tesla, where I was part of the Equipment Engineering Team responsible for optimizing current production processes using mechanical design engineering, reducing cycle time by up to 50%. I was also actively involved in the process to design equipment for assisting production while improving the quality of manufacturing. In addition, I was in charge of various projects related to starting an entire production line at Tesla Lathrop, where I made decisions on vendor selection and material ordering, reducing cost.In addition to my experience at Tesla, I also had the privilege of working with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), where I played a pivotal role in the development of the first indigenously developed attack helicopter in India. During my time at HAL, I was actively involved in the design and innovation processes, particularly focusing on the combat rotorcraft\'s prototype design and monitoring.I am skilled in various engineering software, including CATIA V5, SOLIDWORKS, CREO, Ansys, and AUTOCAD, among others, which I use to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and prototypes for real-world analysis. I also have proficiency in FEA, Structural Welding, Cost Reduction, Structure Optimization, Design Review, Action Planning, and Quality Assurance. I thrive in a fast-paced environment under minimum supervision, and I have strong communication and leadership skills that enable me to collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality results within defined schedules and standards. My goal-oriented mindset and problem-solving skills help me to overcome challenges and achieve excellence in my field.

   In my current role, I serve with the project team, independently driving two major product lines:• Make II Defence Project: Leading full-cycle technical coordination while working directly with defence forces to meet operational, functional, and compliance requirements.• Tethered Drone Program: Initiating and shaping the project from the ground up, including drafting the PRD and system requirements. I collaborate with multiple cross-functional groups—Payloads, Ground Control Systems, Aerostructures, Software, V&V, and Certification etc—to ensure smooth system integration and unified project execution.Additional responsibilities include:• Managing and coordinating with various external vendors to align technical and delivery expectations.• Being fully accountable for the end-to-end technical deliverables of both programs.• Utilizing strong project-management and tracking capabilities to maintain schedule discipline and cross-team alignment.
