ABOUT SUZANNE PRESINAL

Suzanne Presinal is an award-winning Canadian maker, artist and designer who has been making since before the concept of “Making” became mainstream. Being a Maker is a lifelong responsibility for Suzanne, who thrives on innovation that shifts us from our castaway global attitude. By creating sculptures and paintings from mostly found materials, both natural and man-made, she references our complex relationship to our environment, ideas and ideals. She is part of the Canadian offshoot of Boomerang Bags,(BoomerangBagsYYC), which helps eliminate the use of plastic bags, by providing sustainable tote bags made from repurposed fabrics, an artistic divergence of vintage and collectable fabrics destined for landfills. Suzanne organizes programs and workshops with the Esker Contemporary Art Gallery in Calgary. The former Master Maker/Educator for STEM Learning Lab at public and private schools, drawing on her studies at the Alberta College of Art and Design, as well as her honours diploma from Form and Function Fashion Design Academy and lifelong career as a graphic designer. She started her professional career as a Graphic Designer/Art Director, and then moved into the role of Vice President at Wheat Buckley & His Talking Horse, at the time, one of the largest screen-printing facilities in Western Canada. Suzanne loves to share her passion for life with others, through art, dance, travel, family and her beloved tripod dog Devi.
