Employment Caseworker @Mencap

As an Employment Caseworker I am responsible for conducting vocational profiling, careers guidance, job coaching, applying for and claiming Access to Work, employer engagement, liaison & sometimes providing learning disability awareness training to employers. I plan and organise a range of workplace visits, guest speakers and work experience opportunities, to ensure that the learners get the opportunity to find out about as many jobs roles as possible, which may help with their vocational focus and aspirations. I have shared responsibility with the Tutor for, updating portfolios, creating ILP’s, recording & managing attendance and conducting reviews. I also support the Tutor in work preparation and embedding English and Maths through in-work delivery, to support targets in these areas. I work closely with the Tutor to ensure robust individual learner assessment processes are followed to set targets and goals. I monitor progression, collect and input data as required by the programme and I am responsible for ensuring that individuals develop the skills to be able to enter paid employment within targets set.I provide learning support in sessions if required and adapt learning materials to meet individual needs. I provide pastoral support for all learners, which includes liaising with outside agencies to ensure that any needs are been met, which fall outside an education remit.My role also includes job coaching, where I provide individually tailored support for young interns helping them to integrate into the working environment, develop skills and knowledge that will lead to sustained employment.
