ABOUT SUZANNE GREENWALT

I have over 20 years of practice experience as a physical therapist in the settings of acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation. Early on in my career I found a passion for working with the geriatric population, being an advocate for them and providing them with the highest level of care possible. This led me to obtaining my Geriatric Clinical Specialist Certification in 2011. I spent several years in the role of Rehabilitation Director for National HealthCare Corporation. I continue to work with NHC as the Coordinator for their Geriatric Residency Program, as well as a staff physical therapist. My passion for geriatrics continued to grow, specifically with an interest in cardiopulmonary conditions in the geriatric population. In 2014 I became the first physical therapist in Tennessee to obtain Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Specialist Certification. In 2013 I transitioned into academia and am an Associate Professor at Belmont University and the Director of Clinical Education in the School of Physical Therapy. I am also adjunct faculty at A.T. Still University in the post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy program and Associate Faculty at Western KY University. I enjoy creating and presenting continuing education courses for rehabilitation professionals in the areas of geriatrics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and most recently, COVID-19. My primary research interest is interprofessional healthcare education. I am currently completing my PhD in Healthcare Administration and Education. I successfully defended my dissertation in February 2024 and will graduate in summer 2024. My goal is to use my PhD to further make a difference in healthcare education and practice.
