About Susie Puga

The past four years of my career were spent working with children ranging 5-14 in the classroom. My drive to make the world a more positive place led me to study sustainability as an undergraduate. Through studying the social, economic, and environmental challenges we face, I found that the solution is in human behavior and values- How do we treat each other? How do we treat ourselves? I\'ve come to believe the answer to this is in giving people - from their childhood onward - the best opportunity available to value themselves, their communities, and their creativity. This is why I spent the last four years working directly with students in a classroom setting. I want to update the tools, opportunities, and experiences we give our students so they are best prepared to empathetically and practically address the complex challenges of their inherited world. As a professional, I thrive in environments that are collaborative, innovative, flexible, and idea-focused. I have experience in classroom management, curriculum planning, sustainable event planning, developing sustainability initiatives, sustainability education, and research. My coursework is focused on sustainability in relation to education, behavior, policy, and psychology. I believe in using sustainability as a tool to empower people and institutions to improve themselves. My passions include story-telling, communications mindfulness, sustainability, child development, and education. I am always seeking new opportunities to expand my knowledge, develop connections with people, and to create environments that foster well-being for all humans.
