Greetings. My name is Susanne de la Flor, and I am a San Diego native. I have more than 25 years of experience in the legal field — including my role supporting the Law Office of George de la Flor; plus Court Reporting, Litigation, Court Hearings, and Case Management. My primary objective is to build my client base with the highly respected court-reporting company Express Network/Express Deposition Services.I am a very active person who loves to volunteer in my community such as for the San Diego Blood Bank, Father Joe\'s Villages, Habitat for Humanity, Dress For Success, and the Humane Society.Outside of work, my goal, and passion, is to petition lawmakers for the mandatory placement of heart defibrillators in every business across the United States, and in key locations such as on busy streets, to assure a lifeline for people who need them in the event of cardiac emergency.Automatic External Defibrillator advocacy site, aed.com, reports that Sudden Cardiac Arrest deaths claims between and lives each year, and that number is only going up. The number of annual deaths from SCA totals more than those from breast cancer, lung cancer, and HIV/AIDS combined. The site also estimates that 95 percent of victims die before they can get to a hospital or other emergency help. However, there is good news: Chances of survival increase exponentially when an AED is available where the victim has collapsed. After collapsing, the victim has an approximate five-minute window in which his or her heart rhythm can be reset with an AED. Therefore, if nearby AEDs were available within this five-minute time frame, and placed in public buildings, schools, offices and homes, those or so lives could be saved each year. Saving lives and preventing brain injury is the reason I advocate for mandatory AED laws.
