Brought in (2018) to turn around rapid decline in income and ensure sustainable growth, develop balanced income and ensure robust relationships with donors and across the SOS Federation. Rebuilt trust and developed solid relationships to ensure long term growth and therefore impact. Built and developed the fundraising/development team from 3 to 17 with a strong emphasis on quality, accountability and transparency, with a key emphasis on shifting the power to the Global South.I am responsible for all fundraising and development operations, including programme funding (working with trusts and foundations and institutional donors), corporate partnership and philanthropy, and individual giving. Over the years, I have developed impactful relationships with many philanthropists, grant making organisations and corporate partners, who share our values and want to help children be safe and thrive. Relationships are key - with those who fund our work and partner with us, and those who work with communities to develop and run the programmes ensuring children grow into confident, independent adults. I have built robust and transparent relationships with the programme teams where UK funding is channelled, ensuring the opportunities our donors make possible are optimised in line with evidenced local need and programme strategies. As a member of the senior leadership team I support the CEO - and deputise for her as needed - in the overall leadership of SOS Children\'s Villages UK and work closely with our Board of Trustees, SOS Children\'s Villages\' global teams and as part of the international development sector.I feel privileged to be able to play a part in connecting philanthropists and partners with the crucial work of SOS Children\'s Villages and help lead the charity to grow the impact our donors make.

ABOUT SUSANNE OWERS
I work with philanthropists, wealth advisors, CSR and ESG teams, institutional donors and policy makers to ensure children and young people globally are safe, protected and supported to grow into resilient adults. Working closely with the CEO, I have helped transform SOS Children\'s Villages UK on its path to sustainability and growth to achieve greater impact. This is an exciting time, where we build on this growth to focus on new areas, including advocacy, to influence policy makers and inform programmes to achieve better outcomes. As we start implementing our new five year strategy, a key focus is to grow charitable income to £12m per year to ensure more children and families around the world will thrive and contribute to their communities as part of sustainable change. Today, 1 and 10 children and young people around the world are separated from their families, neglected or forced in an abusive environment. Through my relationships with local child protection experts I help to ensure our partnerships create positive and lasting change. SOS Children\'s Villages is a global child protection charity that works to ensure that each child and young person grows up with the human connections and social bonds they need to become their strongest selves.
