ABOUT SUSANNAH M.

I am a PhD scientist with a broad background that includes postdoctoral work in infectious disease, a master’s in public health epidemiology, and international work as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I have expert knowledge of the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes and the devastating outbreaks it can cause. As an EIS officer I was involved in helping tackle Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM), measles, mumps, herpes zoster in immunocompromised patients, and vaccine policy. I am currently working with the Clinical and Environmental Microbiology group at CDC headquarters in Atlanta. We use advanced molecular techniques to help track and contain healthcare-related outbreaks.
