ABOUT SUSAN DOUGLAS

Dr. Susan Douglas has 20+ years of experience at the intersection of leadership, organizational learning, workforce development, trauma-informed care, and health care technology innovation. Susan is a professor at Vanderbilt University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership, designing and leading teams, and evaluation of organizational performance. She is an internationally recognized thought leader in using feedback to improve practice and organizational learning in the health care space. With 100+ publications and presentations, she has supported organizations globally with digital health technology transformation. Guided by user-centered and evidence-based principles, Susan helps leaders sustain innovation and improve organizational metrics with the golden thread of data-informed decision-making. With her background in clinical psychology and a specialty in coping with stress, Susan believes that today’s volatile and uncertain world requires attention to resilience, diverse perspectives, and inclusive action. We need everyone working together to solve today’s wicked problems to create a better future for our children. As a professional coach and master facilitator, Susan supports individuals, groups, and teams to create small shifts that lead to big transformations. She weaves the connective power of a systems lens, the restorative space of strengths-based approaches, and the social technology of design thinking to promote people-centered action for leaders in service of their teams, companies, and communities. Susan is experienced in developing emerging leaders and partnering with senior executives and teams to grow their value and master change in today’s complex environment. As a Coach Educator, Susan provides mentor coaching and training in executive coaching, health and wellness coaching, and team coaching. As a Coach/Mentor Supervisor, she invites coaches and team coaches to engage in reflective practice aligned with professional guidelines and ethics. Certified with ICF and EMCC Global, Susan supports coaches and team coaches to serve with greater self-awareness, practical knowledge, and the nourishment of connection.
