A privilege every day to work at a growing Habitat affiliate that is looking at new ways to have more impact. This affiliate coaches potential homeowners, builds homes, has a robust critical home repair program and runs a social enterprise called the ReStore. We\'ve more than doubled our critical repairs done in a fiscal year, we\'ve nearly tripled our ReStore revenue, we\'ve more than doubled our social media outreach and we are actively taking part in the regional housing conversation as a rural/suburban community. Storytelling, fundraising, advocacy and expanding capacity are focuses. Work with a committed board of directors and a team of three part-time staffers (one grant funded) and a new full-time community outreach manager, who also is grant funded. Recently put up first modular home for a Habitat in the Richmond region. This home will be finished by Habitat volunteers.

ABOUT SUSAN WINIECKI
Storyteller, local and regional government geek, builder/grower and people connector. A newspaper journalist who eventually moved into city and regional magazine journalism, publishing and event planning. I also co-founded the first Richmond-based food tourism/tour company called Real Richmond, which developed the four-day Fire, Flour and Fork — named one of the top 3 festivals in the country in March 2019, and co-authored a social history,\"Seeds of Change: 400 Years of Richmond\'s Culinary History.\" Through work with Richmond Metro Habitat for Humanity since 2012, I became a board member and eventual board chair. That involvement spurred my move into regional housing nonprofit work full time.
