ABOUT SUSAN UTTING-SIMON
Senior Accredited Psychotherapist (column C SCOPED) BACP Specialist Accredited Supervisor ACTO Senior Professional Online Therapist & Supervisor I provide online therapy, supervision and consultancy services worldwide via video platform, instant messaging and email exchange. I live between the UK and Qatar, having particular experience supporting people based in those regions either as natives or in expat communities. Having extensive training and experience in working online with children, young people and adults of all ages, I also offer training and consultancy to therapists and practitioners in the wider helping professions, especially those looking to understand more about working globally, online and/or in private practice. Coming from a mixed heritage family I continuously confront my white privilege and our differing experiences in the world and have undertaken additional training in working sensitively within the different cultural perspectives we all hold. Therefore my therapeutic and supervisory work incorporates a strong focus on cultural empathy where I am open to connecting with and exploring challenges of diversity and oppression in whatever ways we may experience them. Choosing a therapist or supervisor should be about more than looking at qualifications or methods. It is important to find someone who understands the complexity of your world. For many people, life involves moving between cultures—whether through work, travel, or family—and this can shape identity, relationships, and emotional wellbeing in ways that aren’t always easy to express. As a qualified therapist and supervisor who has lived and worked in the contrasting cultures of the United Kingdom and Qatar, I bring a unique perspective. I want to understand your individual expectations, values, and ways of communicating. My aim is to create a therapeutic or supervisory space where you feel recognised and respected, whatever your personal heritage. I also offer a bespoke Consultancy service. These can be one-off sessions, a short block of appointments to cover a specific piece of work, or ongoing regular monthly appointments similar to clinical supervision. With over 25 years’ worldwide experience in various aspects of the helping professions, as well as a background in commercial business, I am uniquely positioned to support professionals in a wide range of industries. I combine my skills as a therapist and supervisor, alongside Solution Focused Brief Therapy principles if appropriate, to provide a consultancy service tailored to your needs.
