About Susan Shafer
A Michigan native living in California, I’ve been a communicator and storyteller since graduating from Michigan State University nearly 30 years ago. My professional experience is wide ranging. Executive communications, corporate social responsibility, public relations, public affairs, marketing, and strategic communications, I’ve tried them all, but my heart and skill set consistently gravitate to corproate communications where I’ve been fortunate to work with several strategic leaders who are driven by purpose and passion. I’m an avid learner who takes great interest in trying something new and succeeding at it. Crafting and honing a message that melds into an impactful story always energizes me. I’m that rare combination of a dreamer and a doer. I work well with people up and down the ladder and find that I’m most successful when I work amongst a team. The opportunity to be creative in my daily work is what gets me out of bed in the morning, and sometimes what keeps me up at night. I’m a visual learner who often draws a plan before I write a plan. A practicing perfectionist—we all have our faults—I take great pride in delivering top-notch work, that\'s on message, on time, and on budget. I’m loyal, funny and enjoy anything that allows me to be crafty with my young daughter.
